information about holistic healing centers;
and
A networking

healing centers,

supporting holistic healing.
Dear Friends,
As
of January 2011, HCU is on hiatus. The healing center
directory will still be active during this time, though HCU staff will
not be monitoring the directory, responding to any inquiries, or
posting any new centers.

Healing
Centers United (HCU) is a non-profit organization:
1)
Helping individuals find
holistic healing centers
matching their specific criteria;
2) Helping individuals find information
to design their own healing paths;
and
3) Helping people working within healing centers connect
with each other and the
resources they need for their centers
to thrive.
Holistic
refers to a 'whole' person approach, addressing the body-mind-spirit of
individuals in the context of their lives.
A holistic healing center
is a place where patients receive holistic health care services from a
team of practitioners, using a variety of therapies.
HCU's
vision is that integrative, holistic health care is readily accessible
to all.

ANNOUNCING
A GREAT NEW RESOURCE!
The Clinicians' and Educators'
Desk Reference on the Licensed Complementary and Alternative Healthcare
Professions, developed by the Academic
Consoritum for Complementary and Alternative Health Care (ACCAHC).
The book is being received well in the medical and CAM
communities. Here's the first paragraph from a
review by Bill Bill Manahan, MD, Assistant Professor Emeritus,
Department of Family Medicine and Community Health, University of
Minnesota Academic Health Center:
Once readers gets beyond
the informative but overwhelming title, they will find this book packed
with clear, concise information about the past and present history of
Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) practitioners in the
United States. Even though I consider myself quite
well-informed about this topic, I was impressed with how much I learned
from this desk reference. Most of the
books about CAM discuss primarily the modalities and not much about the
practitioners. This is the best book that I have read
describing the overall history of the CAM Healthcare
Professions. This book will help facilitate greater and more
respectful collaboration among practitioners from multiple
disciplines. Ultimately, therefore, it will give us greater
understanding of the CAM professionals which will then support the goal
of all practitioners – better health care for our patients.
